Mise Kitchen, Inc. (“Mise,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) operates Mise, a web app that helps people save recipes, remember food preferences, plan meals, and organize shopping lists.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we share it, and the choices you have.
What we collect
Information you provide
We collect information you choose to give us, including:
- Contact information, such as your email address when you join the waitlist, request an invite, create an account, or contact us.
- Account information, such as your name, login details, preferences, and settings.
- Household and cooking information, such as dietary preferences, allergies, disliked ingredients, favorite meals, pantry items, fridge/freezer inventory, leftovers, kitchen tools, schedules, meal plans, grocery lists, and other information you add to Mise.
- Recipe information, such as saved recipes, ingredients, instructions, notes, tags, meal plans, shopping lists, recipe ratings, edits, and recipe preferences.
- URL information, such as recipe URLs, Pinterest Pin URLs, source URLs, canonical URLs, website names, and other links you ask Mise to process.
- Images you upload or ask Mise to import, including recipe images and other food-related images.
- Messages and support requests you send us.
Please do not submit information you do not want Mise to process. If you add household information about another person, you are responsible for making sure you have permission to do so.
Recipe imports, source websites, and images
Mise may allow you to paste recipe URLs, Pinterest Pin URLs, or other food-related links so that Mise can help create a standardized recipe, meal idea, or shopping-list entry.
When you import a recipe or food-related link, we may collect and store:
- The source website name.
- The source URL and canonical URL.
- The original Pinterest URL you provided, if the recipe was imported through Pinterest.
- Recipe facts and structured recipe information, such as title, ingredients, amounts, units, cook time, prep time, servings, nutrition facts, and basic preparation steps.
- A Mise-generated or user-edited recipe summary.
- A copy of the recipe image or other preview image from the original source page, when available.
- Attribution information, such as source name, source URL, and other information needed to show where the recipe or image came from.
Mise uses imported recipe information to create recipe suggestions, saved recipes, meal plans, shopping lists, and other cooking-related features. Mise may rewrite, normalize, reformat, or summarize imported recipe information so that it works better inside the app.
When Mise stores a copy of an image from a source website, we use it to help you visually recognize and organize the recipe. We try to preserve attribution and link back to the original source. If you are a rights holder and want us to remove an image or source material, contact us at privacy@misechefapp.com.
Pinterest information
Mise may allow you to paste Pinterest URLs, connect a Pinterest account, import recipe ideas from Pins you choose, or eventually share Mise-created content back to Pinterest.
When you use Pinterest-related features, we may process:
- The Pinterest URL you provide.
- A normalized public Pinterest Pin URL or limited identifier derived from the URL you provide, when needed to resume or attribute an import.
- Pinterest OAuth tokens, if you connect your Pinterest account.
- Limited Pinterest account connection metadata, such as username or account ID, to show connection status and help you disconnect the right account.
- Pinterest API responses needed transiently to resolve the Pin, identify an outbound source link, or provide the specific Pinterest feature you requested.
- Recipe information extracted from the original linked website or created by Mise after the import, not raw Pinterest API content.
Mise uses Pinterest information only to provide the Pinterest feature you request. Mise does not collect your Pinterest password, does not ask for Pinterest session cookies, and does not access your Pinterest account except through authorized Pinterest-approved methods.
Mise does not store raw Pinterest API responses, Pin descriptions, Pin images, or other Pinterest API content as saved recipe material. If a Pin resolves to an original recipe website, Mise stores the resulting source-backed recipe draft, source attribution, and the Pinterest URL you submitted as provenance. If a Pin does not resolve to an original source, Mise keeps only a source-only draft with the Pinterest URL you provided and asks you to open the Pin before cooking.
Mise does not sell, rent, or redistribute Pinterest API data. Mise is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Pinterest. Pinterest’s own services are governed by Pinterest’s policies.
Information collected automatically
When you use Mise, we and our service providers may automatically collect:

- Log information, such as IP address, request URLs, error logs, and security-related events.

- We do not collect Pinterest passwords or session cookies.

- If we display Pinterest content, we identify it as coming from Pinterest and link back to the Pinterest source where required.

Retention
We keep information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law.
Typical retention periods:
- Waitlist and invite information: until you unsubscribe, request deletion, or we no longer need it for invite/product communications.
- Account information: while your account is active and for a reasonable period after deletion for backup, security, fraud prevention, legal, or accounting needs.
- Household, recipe, meal plan, pantry, shopping, and preference information: until you delete it, delete your account, or request deletion, subject to backup and legal retention limits.
- Imported recipe information: until you delete the recipe, delete your account, or request deletion, subject to backup and legal retention limits.
- Imported recipe images: until you delete the recipe, remove the image, delete your account, request deletion, or we remove the image after a rights-holder request, subject to backup and legal retention limits.
- Source attribution information: for as long as we retain the related recipe or image, so that we can identify and link back to the original source.
- Pinterest OAuth tokens: until you disconnect Pinterest, delete your account, the token expires or is revoked, or we no longer need it to provide the connected feature.
- Pinterest URLs you provide: for as long as we retain the related recipe or import record, unless you delete them or ask us to delete them.
- Raw Pinterest API response content, Pin descriptions, and Pin images: processed transiently for the requested feature and not retained as saved recipe material.
- Logs and security records: typically retained for a limited period needed for security, debugging, abuse prevention, and compliance.

If you are a rights holder and believe content in Mise should be removed, contact us at privacy@misechefapp.com and include:
- Your name and contact information.
- The URL of the original source.
- The Mise URL or enough information for us to identify the content.
- A description of the content you want removed.
- A statement that you are the rights holder or authorized to act on behalf of the rights holder.
We may remove or disable access to content while we review a request. We may also ask for additional information if we cannot identify the content or verify the request.

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. These safeguards may include encryption, access controls, logging, monitoring, secure token storage, and least-privilege access practices.
No online service is 100% secure. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for notifying us if you believe your account has been compromised.
